News at the congress
During the congress, Dr. Flavio Cadegiani will present new data on the efficacy of ivermectin in Itajaí, Santa Catarina, which promise to be the most detailed and robust data that a population study of this size has ever presented in the history of medicine. This will be the 3rd study, as Dr. Lucy Kerr will present the results of the 2nd study, regarding the effect of ivermectin prophylaxis according to the amount of tablets taken on prevention and death from COVID-19. The first of the Itajaí series of studies, which presented the overall, population-based results to evaluate the benefits of a large COVID-19 prevention program with ivermectin, regardless of who, what, and how much taken, has already been reviewed and published in the scientific journal Cureus. In addition, more details of the strategies to combat the pandemic in the city of Chapecó, also in Santa Catarina, will be presented, which included a public outpatient clinic for immediate treatment that in a retrospective study of more than 13,000 patients observed a 58% reduction in mortality among individuals who received indicated medications for early treatment compared to those who did not.
